How to run MultiRes with D2SE and Ultimative

Post by Gear on Mon Aug 19, 2013 5:33 pm

Here I'll show you how to get D2SE and MultiRes to work together.
You will not be able to respec within the game after doing this, unless you use the offline tools.
You can not play online while MultiRes is enabled.

After you install D2SE and put the latest Ultimative modpack into the MODS folder you will only edit things within the Ultimative modpack folder.

You must extract the MultiRes files to the modpack folder (Median XL - Ultimative) It contains the d2patch.mpq and everything needed.
After extracting the multires files you must edit "PlugY.ini" open that up with notepad or any text editing software and paste this to "General"

[GENERAL]
ActivePlugin=1
DisableBattleNet=1
ActiveLogFile=0
DllToLoad=D2MultiRes.dll
DllToLoad2=
ActiveCommands=1
ActiveCheckMemory=1
ActiveAllOthersFeatures=0

Obviously you don't need two "[GENERAL]"s so delete the other.

After doing that you must change the d2 version which Ultimative runs under.
So go to D2SE_Setup.ini and change the following "D2Core=1.13c" under "protected" to "D2Core=1.12a" or whatever is needed to run MultiRes.
Glide does not seem to work for me, but it may just be my computer.

It's that simple.

Not if you're running D2SE.
D2SE has every Diablo core in it. So you can just change them as you wish.

Actually I think you can respec your character if you use the Online Tools.

@OP: actually this is the only line that needs to be changed in plugy.ini: DllToLoad=D2MultiRes.dll

@all: always play with multires in DirectDraw video mode (least lags, and glide doesn't work with multires at all).

also, you should select screen resolution in Options in the game
