Why act 5 wp aren't visible with maphack?

Post by gg2 on Fri Aug 23, 2013 4:18 am

So yeah, as the title says, the act 5 wp are not visible (from afar before you get there...) and I was wondering why. I use the Firk's D2MapReveal Maphack wich is the official TSW maphack. Thanks.

none of the things you need to find, except entrances, are visible with the maphack. Waypoints, Shrines, Stones ( Stony Field), Book in stony field and so on. This is most likely so the maphack wont do alll the work for ya Smile

highly doubt that's the reason why.

but it's a known thing... you can call it a feature if you want.

oddly enough, it's started to show waypoints now. Although this mainly seems to be the case after you've been in the map for a bit.

That simply is because the objects don't exist on the client until you get in range of them (same for monsters, missiles, etc)
Contrarily to the server, the client doesn't see all units, but rather units in range only (by in-range I don't mean you can see it on screen, the range is something like 2 1/2 screens or so)

Additionally, this range is being shortened by the original client map code, so that you can't snipe detect waypoints, shrines and what not from 2 1/2 screens of distance. (if distance >= MaxDetectDist, don't display the unit) Although, the maphack probably removes this limit.

Since those maphacks are fully client-sided, it will not see the units and therefore won't draw them.
