Re: Heroes of the Storm

I'll just poke my head in and quick say this is why I no longer play team-based online games. "Stop trying to make Blizzard happen, it's not going to happen." It's not just because of HotS. They're dead to me and they should be dead to you- every game since WC3 has been a garbagetrashfest. For all its merits, D3 is nothing but a very (read: painfully) casual hack'n'slash; WoW is a grindfest cashgrab, Hearthstone is a pathetic excuse for a "card game". I guess SC2 is fine but I don't own it (and haven't played it) so I can't speak to it.

I was really excited for HotS but I watched some stuff on it and I assumed it would be League but worse. Seems I'm right- I don't have time to waste playing games like that.

Like in every moba, you enjoy more the game when you play with friends.

Low levels are mostly players who come from other mobas and play HotS like if it was lol or dota, which means "I don't give a fuck to objectives"

That's why maps like dragon's seal is a pain in the ass to get a teamate on every seal.

But once you reach higher levels or find good players to team with, the game is much more fun

@Borgin, games last around 15-20 minutes, no reason to not try it. It is really different from other mobas

HotS is a massive threat to Riot because they have some serious momentum among casuals ("I never liked LoL because last hitting is boring") and a number of actual improvements such as multiple maps and talents instead of items. And most importantly because it has the name Blizzard on it, so it's going to be an instant hit.

Of course it doesn't have as much depth as LoL, but that doesn't matter. Even Hearthstone is an e-sport. EVEN HEARTHSTONE. No one really cares about depth. If friends are playing a game, you play it. If a game is popular and in a relevant genre, you play it. This is a Blizzard game with a few superficial improvements over League, so everyone will flock to it - the uselessness of non-healing supports and specialists and the boring deathball meta enforced by objectives be damned.

Riot has the money and talent to teach Blizzard a lesson but is stuck with a legacy moba oil tanker that can't be steered. They will be forced to change LoL radically, develop LoL2 or else get stuck with a shrinking population of veterans. I'm hoping they will develop LoL2 tbh.

That's a bold prediction. I expect HotS will be popular, but mostly among Blizzard fans. I don't see it gaining traction outside of that (admittedly large) fanbase. I can't imagine any other MOBA threatening LoL at this point, really.

And the short format of the game ! People doesn't want to be thrown in a 60min game, they come to HotS mostly because of the games which last around 15-20minutes

Well, I think my opinion about the game changed a little bit.

I played another match just to complete a daily quest. It started out like all others: kill score 20-38, level 20-22, core down to 39%, three straight dragon knights handed to the enemy on a platter, not a single tower of theirs is taken.

We barely fend them off as they suicide rush our core but it's obviously over. I'm like "guys, let's not go down like Brazil vs Germany, let's take one tower" and we zerg their bot T1. Turns out they were attempting to 3 man the merc camp next to it (derp), our Chen runs into them and they get rekt during the ensuing teamfight. We take a tower and moonwell before they respawn. Our Li Li, who up to that point had been played by her owner's cat, pings the shrines and we nab them on our retreat, I run mid and dragon up about 0.5 seconds before we lose bot shrine. Since they're all at the shrines, we go on to plow through their T1, T2, fort and core for a GG.

YES COMEBACKS ARE POSSIBLE

Time to hopelessly lose a few more games, lol.

There's always a chance to comeback, but in some cases it's super close to 0% but hope dies last Smile

Comeback is possible if the losing team really try to coordinate and force opponent to make mistakes (like playing kamikaze on nexus)

I also already lost a game where we had 2 more levels than opponants and won every teamfight. But while we were just focusing on ganking, they push lanes and play better at objectives, and it quickly comes impossible to defend our Nexus.
