Energy Factor on oskills?

Post by wintertimes on Tue Dec 03, 2013 6:57 am

Does anyone know how oskill energy factors? I'm looking at cataclysm specifically, since it's already a character skill. Does it have an energy factor? And what about skills that are only oskills that are direct damage skills?

Energy factor is tricksy. Personally I find that the diminishing returns past 160% to be steeper than the investment merrits. Especially on a toon like paladin that get decent life per vit point. If you are playing unholy I would invest just enough to get to 200% energy damage bonus then put the rest into vitality.

Have you ever watched the energy bonus after about the first 300-400 points? The % improvement gets abysmal, imho. I just think there are better ways to get spell damage at that point.

I guess this has turned into an energy factor discussion.

Previously in MXL 1.F9, I just put enough str for gear and then dumped everything into vit and used +fire spell and -enemy fire res in gear. It did okay, but I could barely solo anything significant even after completing about 70% of endgame items. So I guess is it more prudent to itemize vit or dump stat into vit? Or is there some magical energy/health number that makes everything golden? Most of these questions usually get dumped with answers like "until you have enough hurr durr"
