MO before creating RW

Post by Kato on Fri Dec 13, 2013 6:16 am

I see that advice a lot in guides, but there's no crafting guide Sad

I understand that I should MO ED% (defence) to 350% (or as much as I can do at my level?) but... should I start with a tier 1 item or a higher one?

1. If tier1:
Pros: I have lots of room for MO
Cons: The % is based on a very low start point

2. if highest possible tier:
Pros: I start with higher base defence
Cons: I have less room for MOs

So it seems to me that either could be right. It may even vary by item type. To save me doing lots of maths, if some one knows a quick answer, that would be great.

Just make sure to check which runeword you go for. If you use high level rune, then you have even less room for MOs.
Also i believe the higher the tier - the more sockets you get.
Some tips here:
Honorific crafting - http://www.medianxl.com/t1919-guide-on-making-a-basic-honorific-item-for-every-char?highlight=honorific
Shrine crafting - http://www.medianxl.com/t11-shrine-crafting-thread?highlight=crafting
Runeword crafting:

1. First burn it down to low quality and uptier it to superior quality using oil of enhancement.
2. Keep using oil of renewal until you get one with 30-60% ED (depending on your patience).
3. Apply the “+999 to I need a life because I have 6 Sha’ads” MO. It has a 2% chance to succeed in giving your item a double MO effect (in green text like on honorific/crafted gear). If it failed i.e. nothing happened other than +2 level requirement, go back to step 2 and keep trying.
4. Once the double orb effect succeeds, apply an oil of luck (guaranteed to work).

The question of T1 vs T6 is probably your own choice, but i always go for T6.

I'm pretty sure that the lvl requirement for base items max is around 30 so always go for higher quality

Yep higher quality is king in this situation. As mentioned more sockets, runes up requirements anways, higher stats on gear. Sacred would be ideal for defense/damage but some people don't enjoy the high str/dex requirements needed for such an item. Low tier stuff is only really good for low level crafts (to get certain modifiers) and even then you can take a t6/sacred item and dragon reroll it in hatred to reduce item level. Even honorifics should be a higher tier due to sockets.

I tried creating a r/w from a sacred item which didn't go too well.

1. I found a rare chain gloves [Sacred]
2. I burned off the affixes with Cat of Destr + rune

I was expecting plain Chain Gloves [Sacred] but instead I got Crude version. So

3. I cubed with Oil of Enhancement

Now I got Chain Gloves [6] with a socket. Why did it change to T6?

Also... I see a lot of posts on creating a runeword using +999 MO to get double orb effect, but I can't see if that is a possible effect on armours?
EDIT: I mean - is it possible to get the double MO effect on armours, if so, how?

Ah ok thanks, good to know that I'm not doing something wrong. I have to make a staff r/w as well so I hope I don't get the same problem.

But it makes me wonder... is it a good idea to use a Sacred base item for a rune word? It could end up with a high level reqt after MOing it before the rune word and then after it's made... now I may run out of space to MO it? So maybe stick to T6 for rune words?

Unless... the base damage on the Sacred item is so good that it's belter even if you can't fully MO it?

The max lvl requirement from base item is about 30 (sacred) You will probably use higher req lvl jewels anyway so always go for sacred

Ah ok thanks, good to know. I already made it in the T6 - not that I had a choice after the bug! I'll have to find another Sacred glove then I can unsocket it or use another Pul/jewels.

Thanks for the quick replies Smile

EDIT: It's good to know that the Sacred --> T6 is a bug, but what about the fact that it ended up as a "Crude" item when the affixes were burned off? Is that normal?
