I remember you used to hate Abyss in original MXL, Marco. Did Ultimative make it so powerful that it is a viable skill for you now?

My whole life I used ice tree only for ice elementals, and abyss was from the whole tree, the only without connection to them. I never liked this, though I do like it's mechanics because they are different and not autoaiming and all that bs :p

Now, usually best caster sorcs are fire/ltng , and I never considered to use ice tree for purely caster purposes, so yeah, another goal of mine was not to make the guide based on the classy fire/light combo.

How come you said lightning is better when i personally think that cold tree is more mechanically superior?
High burst + Freeze from StF
High DoT + Piercing + Target-on-ground Abyss
Point Blank 64-missiles hit Frigid Sphere (unless it was 32 or 16).

Lightning have similar, but i admit bit weaker.
Only mechanically interesting is long auto-aim tempest skill.

Did i read the skill mechanic wrong?
Unless you cater in passive that available in both skill tree.
Not to mention summon ice elemental scaled well with hard point synergies and various of late game +all / sorc skills.

Point is, at this stage of the game, StF doesn't freeze, it simply shatters enemies into ice. Did you see a single frozen monster on the yshari video?

Doesn't matter either, abyss is strong, frigid sphere could be too, but they are equally strong to tempest at this stage of the game.

The whole point of lightning being better is that mechanics don't matter that much, everything dies really fast, we are using flamefront for boss killing anyways, so we use support tree for aoe. Tempest has very comparable killspeed to stf / abyss, but we are comparating here 30% max life vs 100k->~500k+ defense and 20% avoid , fire/light is imo best caster combo, as it's a lot tankier. But less interesting too.

Fair enough, flamefront is indeed mechanically superior, so you only need other spell for crowd control or immune-killer.

Hmm, how about flamestrike or pyroblast?
I know both weak in burst aspect, but if you spam long enough, should able to deal more than flamefront?

Or it is not possible because high mana cost on both skill.

pyroblast has nd (like arcane torrent & mana sweep)
flamestrike I don't know, i like flamefront because you can aim having mouse not directly over target, which is kind of great (aiming to go into door for example)

gasp, didnt know that.

Im pretty sure pyroblast have similar mechanic with other 'flame-trail' spell like balefire, brimmstone, shadow avatar which shouldnt have ND (because spamming would be useless). Considering sorc now can cast super-fast (3fpa IIRC)

I got word to check out this build...I had no idea that MXL had another mod. Anyway...I was following your guide to check out this build and I am stuck at the beginning.

How the hell do you do the Challenge Level 0? I have tried with 5 different characters to clear the Den and a large enough area to summon the "boss" and I can't get it done in under 5 levels...which is what the item says. It took a few tries to get the hang of killing the traps but I finally got it.

I tried to do it after level 5 and nothing would cube. After Youtubeing this challenge it showed someone cubing the Harkon Crystal with an Apple. I have tried every possible combination with the Red Circles and I just can't get it to work.

Can anyone help me out here? This seems like a really cool build.
