Read my game design blog.

I've started to get semi-serious about game design/creation, scripting, coding, all that. As sort of a primer to learning the harder stuff, I'm organizing my thoughts on game design and philosophy in a blog which I would love for you guys to read and comment on. Feel free to message me here about it, or comment on my posts, or whatever, as I want to get as many viewpoints as possible on this sort of thing.

The cureent humble weekly offers RPG Maker Ace VX for 6 dollars instead of 60. So I am planning to make some games too Smile

Before you work deeper on that blog, I'd recommend a way shorter blog name (as in website name)
something like "gadeph". That long name just feels a bit awkward Smile

Yeah, I bought RPGMaker because of the humble bundle, and so I'm going to lay out all my thoughts on game design before I actually start doing any work, because that just makes sense to me. Working on my third post today.

zerger, if you haven't already, check out the RPGMaker forums here. A lot of great information, free scripts, art, and other assets you can use in projects, and people who can answer just about any question you have!

I remember the Mxl guy who left for Riot (xypherous) already made this kind of blog and it was interesting.

Concerning RPG Maker, I am bit disappointed by the panel of tilesets and other default samples. I bought the full pack with all those DLC but in the end, I would have expected much more stuff. I will look at the forum if there are some packages available
On the other side, the tools are great, scripting is really simple and offers ton of possibilities, I was expecting something more complexe (like Guts editor for Torchlight II) :p

zerger, I appreciate you commenting on the blog. I'm really hoping to cement a lot of thoughts there, and the more people who see it and think about it and talk about it with me, the better!

I agree that the default amount of content in RPGMaker is pretty low, but the tools are really flexible and you can add pretty much whatever you want. With the plethora of RPGMaker games available on Steam and elsewhere, it's probably not in a designer's best interest to use default content, anyways!

I've always considered Median to be genius, if not a little... uninformative. The whole "Not your average mod" line always tickled my dad-joke-bone.

And Mean Mode, oh god don't even get me started, the mathematician puns!
