XV Necromancers - how are you doing ?

Hello,
I just want to ask your opinions about necro after changes. I am leveling him for now, but my feelings are:

Funeral pyre is usefull, quiet viable starting skill that is delayed, spammable and has resonable aoe. We can not only sit and recast stuff but also cast a spell Shocked Damage seems low compared to, for example, flame strike, but hits multiple times so maybe total damage is ok.

Rotting fresh not so much, but at least we have an option to go "caster way" without help of oskills.
Is this and Pesticilence needed I am wondering, we already have rampagors and graveyard for psn dmg.

Since my necro is low lvl (anyone with 120lvl save here?) - how is black mass after changes? Mad
Is funeral pyre still usefull end game?

Caster necro isn't as strong for leveling as other builds. Totem and xbow seems to be really strong early on. Melee can dominate in uberlevels with fairly cheap gear.
My guess is, to make caster, you will need some serious spell damage gear.
For leveling it is really hard to compare, since totems are just super strong early on.

Boneyard still hits damage cap without maxing it endgame, so it's strong. Funeral pyre can easily hit 60k+ without dedicated fire spell damage gearing (using a generic buff approach with shadows, burning veil, and a bloodlust proc). The passive is definitely worth it for the spell damage buffs alone, and the cast speed is very important if you want to go with a wand and shield setup (great for totems, great choice for the passive on marco's part imo). Rotting flesh has lower dps than pestilence but it hits more consistently and with a slightly larger effective range. Pestilence is great as a cast and kind of forget buff that you should use if you don't want to focus on poison, but for shear coverage, you should probably still go with rotting flesh.

All the new skills are perfectly viable and useful in their own right.

It's sadly pretty bad at leveling though. Compared to other necro builds.

But who cares about leveling, right? Rolling Eyes

it used to be better at leveling but alpha testers reported damages being too high!

That was all late-game damage Razz

Makes sense since the Necropolis/whateveritscallednow passive scales the base damage with hard points.

Yah who cares about leveling Very Happy Friends, exp pots and uber gear and you are fine.

Going back to topic..so it's really cool - that will be nice change from summon monster/totem/teleport spam Bow down prostrate
And Funeral's graphic is so cool every necro should use it hehehe..
Still, what is changed in black mass?

I have no idea what changed with it. I see that it says "chance to avoid attacks" now though. Maybe that means no spell dodge or something? Question

Necromancers seem behind the other classes in many ways, and I've had more success with basically every other class I've gotten to 120. Melee necros seem inferior due to their poor single target DPS (something I've mentioned many times) and I can't get passable clear speed with a summoner. I've yet to explore totemancers.
