Durability

Post by DFAnton on Sun Dec 07, 2014 5:10 am

I haven't played Median since Laz's XL Omega versions, and I'm just coming back to it now. Something that annoyed me then, and still annoys me now, is how quickly weapon durability seems to drop. In the early and mid game, when you can't mow through everything with a few hits, you often can barely clear a zone or two without a weapon needing a repair on a weapon-based character. Because of this, I've only really done caster classes in the past, but that seems like a waste given how many fun CTC combos exist in Median.

Is there a way to mitigate this problem, or is it just the way it is? :/

Which weapons do you have in mind? Even fast swinging ones like warp blades (tu warp blade + tu cere armor give u near maxed attack speed just from giftbox) only need to be repaired 2-3 times per act. I have not really noticed this to be an issue tbh. Perhaps necro skill massacre before you get a nice 2h class weap or parasite but thats about it really.

I tend to play on higher /player levels, and so things take more hits to kill, which is probably a main issue.

Yes that could be it. Regardless, the indestructible affix can spawn on jewels since alvl 16. This means that you need to level to 21 and then gamble a jewel roll it with renewal oils until you get an indestructible one and problem solved Smile

Scythes/knifes/warp blades have innate low durability, so yeah they break faster then others. I socket a jewel with "Indestructible" affix (min ilvl jewel 16) and i'm done with it.

Edit: Damn ninja. Razz

Why is there durability at all?
Game limitation or could it be removed in the mod?

Gold isn't a problem in MXLU so ..... durability has no real value.

Yeah its a feature of the original d2 engine. Since mxl is a softcoded mod (i.e. engine code not modified) such stuff can not be changed right now. In the future for sigma however, which will have code edits, this is a good idea, similar to how d3 dropped durability and its just better.
