Mythral, how does it work really?
Mythral, how does it work really?
So, my question has two parts.
1. What is the point of it having such a large graphical footprint when hardly any creatures passing through the graphic ever seem to get the curse "bubbles"? What is the actually "mechanical" footprint of the skill?
2. Does it work like immunity breaking in cLoD? That is, the immunity is broken but remaining -% Enemy Resists works at fractional effectiveness. Or do you get full effect from your gear -%ER?

Aha. I had totally forgotten about that guide.
Even still, I have watched plenty of monsters run through damn near the center of the graphic and not get the "bubbles".

Re: Mythral, how does it work really?
I find it effective paired with plague avatar, with a caster druid when acid fiends stop the mobs mythal breaks the immunity by 40% and they remain at 60% resistance, so less than half of -ER% damage is dealt. If they have no immunity or for all other resistances it goes negative, except for physical.
And it's also a ctc affix on amulets and i use it with melee chars, and when it spawn everything melts immediately. But yeah, it's not that wide, quite small actually and i pass it fast and can't really lure mobs into it, it's not as if they pass over it they get cursed, it's if they stay in the circle they have -% resist curse.

hard to tell without looking at the code.

1. ill try to answer as good as i can:
its a missile which stands for <duration> frames at a static point and launches a nova which consists out of 64 missiles every 5 frames. Sparkles are just a visual thing.
2. yes and no: if the monster has innate immunity (>100 base res) then its like in clod ; on heroics it reduces -40% all resistances ( except for physical but including magic !) for its full effect, after that pierce does kick in in its full strength

missiles pierce trough monsters, right?
yea, it can break immunities since it's skill -% enemy res debuff, not item -% enemy res. so as RR said, once mythal pierces the immunity, the item -% enemy res kicks in.

Re: Mythral, how does it work really?
Thanks guys.
@Q-dog, Yeah, I knew it broke immunities I just was in doubt as to the effectiveness of gear based -%ER after the immunity was broken, but now I know.
Does anyone else use it on their Trap Rat?
