Untwinked hardcore builds?

Looking for suggestions as to which builds would work well for a untwinked hardcore playthrough (and hopefully some ubers)
Played MXL HC 1.5 years back with a cold/fire and cold/light sorc and got to 120, which worked very well but this time i'm looking to try something else - any suggestions?

Unholy Caster Paladin using Mind Flay, Slayer and another source of elemental damage (Hailstorm, Apocalypse). If you don't want a caster, then bowazon works. Just be careful with Ecstatic Frenzy.

Melee builds not recommended unless you are Strobel and like to level up in duncraig.

Other than that:
Cold sorc with any other element. I had cold + poison works really good, miasma is impressive offensive and defensive tool until you get chronofield at lvl 90.
Crossbow necro - use frag shot as main skill - no need for atack rating. Have summons to tank for you.
Javelin amazon - slow before lvl 24, but then you get fairy ring and it's ok char.
Throw assassin - a mix of storm crows + mealstrom. Advance slowly killing all monsters before they even aproach.
Summoner barb - just watch mahitovec stream.
Bow druid - max out cascade gives so much range - you can kill enemies in act 2 while standing in act 1.

Im a big fan of melee Barb and i can say that you can play through all the game without dying but yeah uberlevels can be complicated. If you reach lvl 100 you can dual wiel Urada runeword in two Kriegsmesser for 50% reanimate as Necrobot who will definitly tank for you, and with Kraken Stance those nasty Necrobot with kill everything, and you will still be tanky as f***. Look at this guide, it is definitly outdated but it might put you on the good path if you want to try melee barb The Godbarian

traprat is slow, but very safe.

Lots of life, lots of defense, good DPS.


Bow druid is a bit less safe, but much faster and more fun once you get elfin weapons and a good TU bow (I prefer salamander's breath)

EDIT: at above, check LFAQ (newbie help):

The only things that work from the off-hand weapon are:

* + Defence (vs Mêlée/Missile) 
* +% Enhanced Defence 
* (Magic) Damage Reduced (by %) 
* Resist +% 
* +% to Maximum Resist 
* + Absorb (%) 
* Poison Length Reduced by % 
* Half Freeze Duration 
* Cannot be Frozen 
* +% to Skill Damage 
* -% to Enemy Resistance 
So, pretty much nothing that has to do with applying damage works, except for elemental skill damage and -res.

on striking and on kill procs also dont work from offhand, but on attack does ( not for deathgaze and ironspiral tho, currently they are bugged and only proc on attack from main weapon )

my suggestions:

sorc: ice/light sorc is (since I have memory) the easiest character to level in HC. Ridiculous defensive stats. One of the strongest summons in the game. Nice damage output with mana sweep. Good crowd control with StF. TU war staff is godlike. Endgame you can make a ridiculously good sorc just with tainted/magical crafts. Like, craft ALL of your gear. And you can do a bunch of ubers without trying hard.

necro: totem necro is the fastest build to get to 120 in hc. It's insane. you need absolutely no gear. You have bend the shadows which is pretty much constant free mobility while you keep your summons and totems around you, which makes you kind of immortal. You dont really need to boost any elemental damages, frostclaw will have epic damage and act 1 ranger mercenary with Sol rw on bow will vaporize bosses and cold immunes.

at some point playing totemnec in HC is just so easy if you know what you're doing that you might as well use veil king to add some adrenaline (and even better killspeed).

other necros (xbow, summoner) are okish too but not close to being as good/fast as totem.

barb: summoner is pretty good. The advantage of barb is that as soon as you reach K3k on any difficulty, you're almost always able to farm it right away. So if you want to play HC and start farming for sets right away, this is definetly best choice. What makes this build strong is same as necro, you have sick movility (again a teleport skill). And you have a bunch of options in terms of what stance or summon you want to use. Cons are: probably the most boring out of these 3 to play. There's not that much to do by yourself so you just move/teleport/stancedance
