All in all I'd say that in the early game mediocre runewords are better, and lategame there are far superior options for equipment...

Can you think of a situation where these items would actually be useful lategame or any other items that seem to be just meh?

SU Short Bow - as on-switch variant with a widowmaker necro [Smaxed Dragonfire Oil and -100 enemy fire resists]. +150 LaK (Demon), extra damage to demons... It's cheap, so there is a chance to get a Double MO (extra Lak MO's maybe?) Don't think this bow is a total crap. Not for farming but can make some fun, for sure.

flintstone axe is alright - clearly a design for fire TW, the short bow and ssu battle are ok; i agree on the rest. But its not easy to design them in a way that they are useful but dont just replace other items ( and giving them the same spot )

Yup, bad items have to exist by definition. Otherwise your character's build/performance won't get "rewarded" for picking the good ones and the cycle of going from bad->better->best items keeps players interested in the game.

Same reason why card games such as magic and hearthstone have been creating bad cards that no one would use (the former for years).

Yeah, admittedly SSU Axe doesn't really belong on this list. On good roll and possibly double MO it's a nice item.

Apart from that I don't see why you guys think the bows are good; how are they better than double MO runewords/crafts?
Of course you can have some fun with them; This is why I left out SUs like the xbow that gives +Deathstrike, because it's fun to randomly scare people with it, or the orb that gives +Pentagram, because it almost works well. But rly, that's about it, just a gimmick that's outclassed by other SUs' gimmicks.

@suchbalance It's true that there will always be items that are better than others... however I'd like to point out that some of the items in the main post are actually worse than even TUs, such as SU Spiked club Skullbat vs TU Balanced Axe Rockshatter.
When those drop, it's almost like they didn't, but a signet; I don't think a boost of their properties would change character progression much at all, but at least give them a chance to be used.

I think that some of the SU should have a lower lvl requeriment or be buffed. Even some TU are better than some of the SU.
